Building wealth without selling my soul, and sharing the map along the way.
I didn't grow up knowing what I wanted to do with my life.
I was a good student growing up in California. I worked hard. I got good grades. Because that is what you were supposed to do. But I had no clear direction, no idea what I was actually supposed to do with my life.
At 19, I left for a two-year church mission to Pennsylvania. And that changed the direction of my life.
While I was there, I met a chiropractor. He explained the philosophy behind what he did in a way I had never heard before. He told me the body is designed to heal itself. When it isn't healing, something is getting in the way. His job, he said, isn't to heal the body. It's to remove the interference, and then let the body do what it was designed to do: Heal Itself!
Something about that idea unlocked something in my mind. It rang true.
It made so much sense, not just as a healthcare philosophy, but as a way of seeing the whole world. Remove the interference. Trust the design. Get out of the way and let things work the way they were meant to.
I also saw the life he had built. A good home. A family. Calm, purposeful work that actually helped people. And I thought: I could see myself doing that.
I came home with a direction for my life.
Before my mission, I had done 8 credit hours in general classes. When I got back, I returned to BYU, majored in Exercise Science, minored in Nutrition, and graduated valedictorian in under three years. Then I went to Palmer College of Chiropractic, the oldest and considered one of the best chiropractic schools in the country, and graduated valedictorian again.
I moved to Colorado Springs ready to be a great doctor.
What I wasn't ready for was being a business owner...

The first years nearly broke me.
I had no idea how to market a chiropractic practice (or any business for that matter). I tried everything people told me would work. It all fell flat. We were financially dependent on my in-laws just to survive. I felt like I couldn't take care of my own family, and that weight kept building, no matter how hard I tried nothing seemed to work.
One morning, I didn't want to get up.
My soul ached. I had tried so many things and hadn't made the progress I expected. I didn't want to face another day of not knowing what to do. I wasn't suicidal, but I remember wishing I could just cease to exist, because then I wouldn't have to keep trying to figure it out.
And I knew something had to change.
I wrote out a small affirmation, just a simple statement of what I actually wanted my life to look like. I put it as the background on my computer desktop so I would see it every day. That sounds almost too small to matter. But I focused on that simple statement. I imagined and felt what it would be like.
And slowly, things began to shift.
The practice started covering expenses. Then I could pay myself a little. Then a little more.
I didn't fully understand why the affirmation worked. But I saw the change in my life. I believe deeply in the connection between what you focus on and what you eventually create. That experience is part of why I talk about mindset, personal responsibility, and the power of choice, not as motivational fluff, but as things I genuinely needed to survive.
About four years into running my practice, I came across something that changed how I understood business entirely.
I watched a webinar by a man named Russell Brunson. He laid out the entire system behind how marketing actually works, not as a bag of tricks, but as a logical process. For the first time, it made sense. I could see exactly what I had been doing wrong, and more importantly, I could see what to do differently.
It was like I saw the whole world anew. I had a different perspective that I could never unsee.
I had been trying to please everyone. Which meant I was reaching no one.
It wasn't that I was bad at business per se. I just didn't have the right map.
That realization opened a door I haven't closed since. I've spent years now studying marketing, copywriting, sales, and mindset, not because I want to become a full-time marketer, but because I believe that the ability to reach people and communicate value is one of the most important skills a person can build. It doesn't matter how good your product is, how skilled you are, or how much you want to help, if people don't know you exist, none of it matters.
Now I run a chiropractic practice built on the philosophy that the body can heal far more than most people believe. And I run a growing business built on the marketing and mindset tools that turned my practice — and my life — around.
I haven't arrived. I'm still figuring things out, just like you probably are.
But I have a map now. And I want to share what I have learned along the way.

You always have a choice. No matter your circumstances, how you respond is always yours to decide. That's not a harsh idea, it's the most empowering truth I know. It's the foundation of every patient I've seen get well and every entrepreneur I've watched break through. It was a choice.

Affirmations pulled me out of my darkest moment. I've since gone deep on the brain and how belief actually changes outcomes. I'm not interested in just motivational fluff, I'm interested in what actually rewires a brain, what makes people do what they do, and why it all works.

The body can heal far more than we typically believe. I've seen it in my practice for years. I also believe financial abundance and physical health are deeply connected. When you have resources, you can give your body and mind what they need to heal and then progress to new heights.

I used to hate marketing because I'd seen too much of it done badly. Now I can't stop studying it. Specifically: how do you help someone make a genuinely good decision without manipulating them? That line between wholesome influence and sleazy manipulation is something I constantly think about.
